Cuccagna’s Park, Ponzano VenetoPonzano Veneto (Tv), 2009

This park represents an important point inside an hude territory. This park it is an urban public space that
becomes a strategic point between the city (Treviso) and its periphery. A surrounding composed of settlement typical of urban sprawl where a sequence of houses, fields, sheds, villages, industrial zones, countryside and shopping centers … are all mixed together chaotically.
And it is perypherical in relation to a small village and from the main city of Treviso.
The park is dual opportunity as a piece of a puzzle that connects and reunites easly different parts of the huge territory from Treviso to Montello (a small historical hill) and in it’s own right as a part of a small village.

The puzzle is composed of open spaces of different sizes.
In detail the design of this green area starts directly from the existing elements already present in the site: the water system (originally used for irrigation) the green structure (trees, bushes, etcÖ) slopes (naturally present in this place that descend from north to south 1 meter every 100 metres).
Overall the park is a empty space. A space where it is possible freely admire a view of the mountains (an extraordinary open dimension inside the urban sprawl). The space is organised by an ambient language which also satisfies functional needs: catchment areas/zones (cassa di espansione), the reproposal of the original grove, playgrounds, …
